My name is Johan Nyström, 23 years old and currently residing in Eskilstuna, Sweden. I´m a very social and outgoing person who likes to meet new people, learn and experience new things in life. I´m active when it comes to almost any type of sports, and ever since I was 4 years old I have been playing soccer. As a captain I recently lead our team to winning the league. An incredibly proud moment for me. By playing soccer I have learned the values of team work and to strive for goals

Next summer I will recieve a Bachelor degree in Innovation at Mälardalen University, Eskilstuna. My three years in university has given me knowledge in e.g organization, innovation change and marketing. I have even been practicing my entrepreneurial skills by participating in an start-up course where me and my friend had an idea that we considered would have huge potentional on the market.

Each program has its own committee and I´m the chairman of our. As a leader I have learned a lot of things about how to organize and delegate tasks to the other members. I try to emulate others that have been successful in good leadership. I have also been participating in BNI (www.bni.com), which are morning meetings where entrepreneurs can meet to discuss new business ideas with each other. My task was to go as a stand-in when someone couldn´t be there. I represented that specific company and talked in front of the other entrepreneurs. This experience has given me insight in the need of collaboration and to use others knowledge in business. In the spring of 2010 before I go, I will take a course called Multicultural Improvisation at Mälardalen University. Since it´s a course in english I think it will help me prepare even more for the upcoming year.

The main reason why I want to go to the United States is to know that I have achieved something. Something that has great value for my continued employment and life. I also want to explore and discover the American culture and be inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit that exists in the country and I feel like I can identify myself in the American environment more than anywhere else in the world. I also want to improve my English skills since I most definitely will use it in my future work. As an innovator there is a great advantage if you have a wide network of people. Through this trip I’m hoping on meeting new friends, some of them even for life. Friends that I might get an opportunity to work with in the future.

Visiting the US has been my dream for over a decade. The first thing I fell in love with was the American infrastructure; great variety of cities and vast landscapes. It has since then extended to hip hop music, American culture and offers of activities being endless. Discovering new things and learning more is a passion of mine and one of the things that keep me going. When I do I get a huge energy boost and my self-confidence sky rockets. This makes me perform even better and with a smile on my face. I’m looking forward to a year full of smiles.
